Gender Justice and the Ministry of Women

In 2019, Baptists Together celebrated 100 years of ordaining women in Baptist Ministry. We as a local Church celebrate the gift of the ministry of women and appointed our first woman Minister in 1994. We have had a woman Minister or Minister-In-Training almost continuously since then. We want to continue to encourage and inspire women to respond to the call of God and we welcome women’s ministry in all leadership roles, without exception.

The body of Christ is richer when both men and women are actively involved in and give voice to leadership roles.

Jesus honoured and valued women, which spoke strongly to a culture that mostly disregarded them. In our culture, following Jesus’s example of inspiring and equipping women to do God’s work in their places of work, in their families, in our community, and in the church takes extra effort and care. However, it is a matter of justice, as well as a wholly worthwhile investment to seek out women’s voices and perspectives, to challenge them, and to encourage them to use their gifts to honour and glorify God. Our church leadership, ministry and mission grows stronger and more effective because of the investment.
